Deer Park High School Musicians Earn All-County and All-State Honors

Six Deer Park High School musicians have earned spots in the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education’s Suffolk All-County Ensembles, with two students also receiving statewide recognition.
Juniors Kesha Elmon (alto) and Dante Tinoco (bass) were selected for the Division 4 Chorus. Junior Joshua Beylin (B-flat clarinet) and seniors Aditya Kataria (bass clarinet) and Nobin Nath (flute) were chosen for the Division 4 Band, while senior Emily Dong (violin) earned a place in the Division 4 Orchestra.
The students will spend three days rehearsing alongside accomplished musicians from across Suffolk County before performing in the NYSCAME All-County Concert on Nov. 13 at Half Hollow Hills High School East.
Nath earned an additional distinction with selection to the NYSSMA All-State Symphonic Band and will represent Deer Park at the New York State School Music Association Winter Conference in Rochester. The ensemble will perform Dec. 7 at the Eastman Theatre. Dong was also recognized at the state level as an All-State alternate, another highly competitive musical achievement.
