Falcon Pride Takes Center Stage at Deer Park Homecoming Celebration

Falcon pride was on full display as the Deer Park school community came together for its 2026 homecoming celebration, beginning with a spirited parade from John F. Kennedy Intermediate School to Deer Park High School.
Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services Alicia Konecny served as this year’s grand marshal, a role that held special meaning for her.
“Being named grand marshal of the homecoming parade was such a special honor and a true full-circle moment for me,” Konecny said. “Having marched in this parade since I was a little girl, it was incredibly meaningful to experience it from a different perspective. Deer Park is more than a school district to me; it’s a community that has shaped my life, and I’m so grateful for the students, colleagues and families who have been part of my journey. Once a Falcon, always a Falcon!”
The celebration continued at Al Centamore Football Field, where students and spectators enjoyed homecoming festivities and performances before Matthew Thelismond and Isabella Bernabel were crowned homecoming king and queen. The homecoming court also included Aaron Allen, Paige Bailey, Moriah Carridis, Joseph Geosits, Anabella Lindsay, Princess Manisbeng, Nobin Nath and Josiah Pointer.
The varsity football team capped off the day with a determined effort against the Lindenhurst Bulldogs, demonstrating teamwork and sportsmanship despite a 30-14 final score.
“Deer Park High School’s homecoming week was a wonderful celebration of school spirit and community pride, from our spirited theme days and the exciting pep rally to Saturday’s homecoming parade, festivities and outstanding student performances,” Principal Charlie Cobb said. “I am extremely proud of our students, staff and the entire Deer Park community for making this year’s homecoming such a memorable experience.”
