Facility Rules
For everyone’s benefit, we ask you to observe the following rules.
Failure to do so may result in ejection from the facility without refund.
- No person permitted having signs and symptoms of illness: respiratory symptoms, skin lesions, sores or inflamed eyes, mouth, nose or ear discharge, carrying communicable disease or having any type of bandage, adhesive tape, etc. on their body. IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL, PLEASE DO NOT PARTICIPATE.
- ID required with payment of a daily usage feeOR valid membership shown upon entry. Preferred forms of ID are driver's licenses, Deer Park library cards, and school ID cards showing grade level for students age 14 and over. No entry permitted outside of advertised public swim and swim program schedules.
- A responsible adult who will supervise behavior on deck and in the locker areas must accompany children 13 & under. Any person who requires assistance in the water must be accompanied IN THE WATER by an adult who should be within arm’s reach. Use discretion when choosing a locker area. Management of this facility recommends swimmers aged 6 and over use the most appropriate locker area for the privacy of all participants. Alternatively, if privacy and circumstances are not appropriate in a specific locker room, please cooperatively use the provided curtains outside the locker rooms.
- Proper bathing attire is required; bathing suits, rash guards, board shorts appropriate for the pool; NOT gym shorts, tee shirts or other regular clothing / pajamas; nothing that prohibits movement. Swim Shoes are not relevant to the in-water experience at a pool and should be removed on deck before entering. Bathing caps and goggles are optional. We do not allow masks that cover the nose during lessons because they prohibit correct breathing technique. Jewelry, metal hair clips and apparel / items that could become entangled in the pool infrastructure are not allowed in the pool for your safety.
- The New York State Department of Health advises a cleansing shower prior to the use of any public bathing facility. Pollution of the pool by any bodily fluids strictly prohibited. Nose blowing and expectorating while in the pool is not allowed. No urinating or defecating in the pools.
- NO SMOKING of any kind on school grounds. Additionally, we will ask any person who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol to leave the facility voluntarily or with a security escort as necessary.
- Food and drink are prohibited from the entire pool area. Plastic or metal water bottles allowed. Please dispose of all trash and single use containers properly.
- General safety rules are in effect at all times, including
No Running anywhere in the building.
No Diving in shallow water
No loud voices, no foul or offensive language
No outdoor type rough play
- Lap lanes are for lap swimming ONLY. Open areas are NOT for lap swimming. Please follow the directions of lifeguards.
- Use of facility owned pool toys and equipment is allowed when appropriate. Equipment use will be restricted when contraindicated by public health and /or safety. You may bring and use your own but please DO NOT SHARE ANY EQUIPMENT. Follow directions of lifeguards.
- Water competency tests conducted by lifeguards are required before deep-water access is granted. Children under age 13 years, swimmers using floatation devices and those not meeting water competency standard will be restricted to shallow water areas at the discretion of lifeguards on duty for everyone’s safety.
- Hyperventilation, extreme hypoxic training, and static apnea are NOT ALLOWED at this facility. You will be asked to leave if you participate in these dangerous behaviors.
Diving Board AND Diving tank CLOSED except for approved training.
