Facility Rules

*For everyone's health, safety and protection we ask you to observe the following rules. Failure to do so may result in ejection from the facility without refund.

 Swimmers must show a valid membership card, or present ID with payment of a daily usage fee and be signed in at the guard station. Preferred forms of ID are: driver's licenses, Deer Park library cards, and school ID cards showing grade level for students age 13 and over. Patrons cannot be permitted into the pool building outside of the advertised public swim and swim program schedules.


 A responsible adult who will supervise behavior on deck and in the locker areas must accompany children under age 13. Any child who requires assistance in the water must be accompanied IN THE WATER by an adult who should be within arms reach. Please use discretion when having a child use an opposite sex locker area. Management of this facility recommends that boys and girls aged 6 and over use the most appropriate locker area for the privacy of all participants. Changing outside the locker rooms without cover is not acceptable. Please review locker room manners at home.


 Proper bathing attire is required; bathing suits, rash guards, board shorts appropriate for the pool NOT gym shorts, tee shirts or other regular clothing/pajamas; nothing that prohibits movement. Bathing caps and goggles are optional. Masks that cover the nose are not allowed during lessons because they prohibit correct breathing technique. Jewelry, items that could become entangled and metal hair clips are not allowed in the pool. Please secure them in a locker or leave them at home. 


 The New York State Department of Health advises a cleansing shower prior to the use of any public bathing facility. *No person will be permitted in the pool having: skin lesions, sores, or inflamed eyes, mouth, nose or ear discharge, carrying communicable disease or having any type of bandage, adhesive tape, etc., on their body.*

 Pollution of the pool by any bodily fluids is strictly prohibited. Nose blowing and expectorating while in the pool is not allowed. No urinating or defecating in the pools.


 NO SMOKING of any kind on school grounds. Additionally, any person who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave the facility.



  Food and drink are prohibited from the entire pool area.  Water in plastic bottles is allowed. Please dispose of containers properly.


 General safety rules are in effect at all times, including

No Running anywhere in the building.

No Diving in shallow water

No loud voices, foul or offensive language.

No outdoor type rough play

 Lap lanes are for lap swimming ONLY. Please match your speed with others in the lane and follow a circle-swimming pattern (stay to the right in the lane).

 Use of pool toys and equipment will be allowed at the discretion of the supervising lifeguard on duty.  Priority for use of equipment and pool space wlil be given to scheduled programs.

 Children under age 13 years, swimmers using flotation devices and anyone displaying signs of distress when swimming will be restricted to shallow water areas at the discretion of the lifeguards on duty for everyone's safety. Deep water swim tests may be requested.

 Hyperventilation, extreme hypoxic training and static apnea at NOT ALLOWED at this facility. You will be asked to leave if you participate in this dangerous behavior.

 Diving Boards
The low (1 meter) diving board will be available for public use when a lifeguard is posted at the dive tank. The board will be off limits at the discretion of the supervising lifeguard on duty. A swim test may also be required prior to use at the discretion of the supervising lifeguard. THE 3 METER BOARD IS CURRENTLY OFF LIMITS TO EVERYONE.

Specific rules for use of the diving area are:

*DO NOT wear goggles for diving from the board.

*One at a time, including being on the ladder.

*Absolutely no running on the diving board or deck.

*Multiple bounces are not allowed.

*No swimming in the diving tank. Swim directly to the ladder to exit the dive tank.

Group use, including birthday parties and scout group outings must be scheduled in advance with the Aquatic Director to avoid overcrowding, ensure completion of appropriate forms and to allow us to contact you in the event of emergency closure of the facility.
