Deer Park celebrated its second graders and their achievements at heartwarming moving up ceremonies at May Moore Primary School on June 6 and John Quincy Adams Primary School on June 12. Under sunny skies and the gaze of proud parents, the graduating students stood to be recognized, accepted awards, and sang and danced with joy.

“Moving up is always a special experience for our second graders,” May Moore Principal Tammy Alcalde said. “It is a time when we get to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students during their academic careers here at May Moore. We are beyond proud of them and wish them all the very best in their future endeavors at JFK.”

“Our second-grade moving up ceremony is always filled with much excitement as we celebrate the achievements of our hardworking students and send them off to JFK,” JQA Assistant Principal Lynn Coyle said. “It is a moment for them to shine and feel proud of all they have accomplished in their young lives.”

“Moving up is always a day filled with a lot of emotion,” JQA Principal Christopher Molinelli said. “We are so sad to see our second-grade students moving on to JFK, but also so happy to have had the privilege of working alongside their parents for the past few years. We wish them all the best and expect to hear about all the great things they will do in their future.”

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome each and every one of you to our school family,” John F. Kennedy Intermediate School Principal Kelly Benson told the second graders. “The transition to a new school can feel like an adventure filled with both anticipation and a touch of uncertainty. But fear not my young friends, for JFK Intermediate School is a place where dreams take fight, where Falcons don’t just fly, but we soar. These are the values that will guide us as we work together to create a thriving and supportive learning environment. As you prepare to embark on this exciting new chapter, I encourage you to approach it with an open mind and adventurous spirit. Embrace the challenges that lie ahead, for they will only make you stronger. Embrace the friendships that you will make, and the knowledge that you will gain in a few short months. When September arrives, we will welcome you with open arms ready to embark on this incredible third-grade journey together.”
