Deer Park High School recently honored the September Students of the Month: Kayla Cruz was named Scholar of the
Month and Aaron Ramharak and Justin Woodson were
named Citizens of the Month.
Ramharak and Woodson were nominated for their outstanding character and integrity, as well as their ability to demonstrate kindness and respect towards their peers, teachers and staff. One teacher shared a heartwarming story about them: "There was a new student last week who was eating alone in the library because he didn’t know anyone. When I informed Aaron and Justin about him, they immediately went to the library, introduced themselves and invited him to sit at their table. They truly made this young man feel welcome at our school. It was wonderful to witness."
Cruz has also been recognized for her remarkable achievements. One teacher noted, "Kayla has an incredible work ethic and serves as a positive role model for her peers. This summer, she participated in the Science, Technology, and Research Scholars program for minority students at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory."
"Congratulations to all our winners, your actions and dedication inspire our school community," Associate Principal for Guidance and Support Services Dr. Dina Pannone said.
