The new National English Honor Society at Deer Park High School recently hosted a Poetry Slam, led by Junior Vice President Mohammad Fahad. Student performers took the stage to read prepared poetry of their own, as well as published verse of other professional writers. Students also participated in improv poetry activities created by NEHS officers.

“Student leadership in the literary arts is a hallmark of a great English Honor Society, and I’m proud of our students who have taken the reins at the founding of the Deer Park Hugh School chapter of NEHS,” said Justin Uliano, the district’s curriculum associate for English language arts.
