This year, Deer Park High School’s SADD Club honored Red Ribbon Week by promoting the theme of “Be Kind to Your Mind – Live Drug Free.” Club members interacted with students as they entered the building on Oct. 26, part of the weeklong nationwide campaign to promote a drug-free lifestyle. Students and teachers had the opportunity to sign a “Pledge to Be Drug Free,” which was posted in the school’s lobby showcase. Students also received information about the dangers of substances such as drugs and alcohol, as well as stickers and activity pages that promoted a drug-free life.
“We were elated with the club’s participation before and after school, as well as how the campaign was received by the rest of the school community,” said Karen Haar, the SADD Club co-adviser with Marissa Caruso. “The club looks forward to making Red Ribbon Week a staple at Deer Park High School for years to come.”
