Deer Park High School once again opened its doors to honor the unsung heroes behind the uniform: military moms. In its ninth year, the Military Moms Tea, hosted by the school’s Patriot Club and SADD Club, proved to be a heartwarming testament to gratitude and support for the mothers of those who serve.
Traditionally held on the Friday preceding Mother’s Day, this event serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by military families. Mothers of servicemen and women, both active and veterans, were recognized for their unwavering support and resilience. In addition to honoring military moms, the event also included mothers of graduating seniors. It served as a platform for them to connect, share experiences and support one another.

The afternoon's refreshments were prepared by high school students in their culinary classes, and club members took charge of the planning and venue decoration. From photographs of military alumni and displays honoring military branches to handcrafted centerpieces, every detail spoke volumes about the respect and admiration held for these mothers and their children.

With a dozen moms and other family members in attendance, along with district administration, the event underscored the widespread recognition and support for members of the military and their families.

“The ninth annual Military Moms Tea was more than just an event, it was a testament to the power of community and appreciation,” teacher Laurie Osbern said. “It reinforced the notion that behind every brave soldier, there stands a strong and resilient mother.”
